Looking At His Laundry He Just Might Be a Superhero

Exactly 1 month ago Hormone Boy became a teenager.

Yes, my little boy turned into tween and now he's a teen. I wasn't looking forward being mom of a teenage boy especially with Mr. Misery always on the road, but that's what life had in a store for me.

Actually, I must admit.....it's not that bad. I complain about HB, but when I look around and talk to my friends I wish my lucky stars that he's my son.

I've been noticing funny little changes last 30 days.

Some of them good, some bad and some just so darn cute.

The occasional bad attitude I can do without, but it's not as bad as the laundry that child produces.

Seriously, he's a freaking teenage boy and every time I look at him he's wearing the same thing. So where does the dirty laundry comes from?

I do laundry once a week. That means every 7 days. Little Peanut and myself we usually share a basket that we can't fill. Not Hormone Boy. That kid needs a barrel for his hamper.

Yesterday I decided to count HB's laundry: 9 T-shirts, 2 golf shirts, 4 sets of PJ's, 5 pair of jeans, 3 pair of shorts. Oh, I almost forgot 3 pairs of PJ bottoms/sweatpants.

Now, tell me where and when does he wear all that clothing? Is he like a Spiderman or Superman that leaves the house in the middle of the night, gets dirty saving the world and then just sneaks in and drops it in my laundry hamper?

This is a great mystery to me.

I did ask him about the laundry situation, but all I got was a shoulder shrug.

As I said it's not all that bad. As Hormone Boy was preparing to enter into teenagehood last few years he didn't want to do much with me....I mean the mushy, touchy, feely stuff.

Once he crossed that line suddenly he misses his mom. There is no way he'll admit it so don't you go telling him that I told you.

Every night after Little Peanut goes to bed I go to my office/bedroom to read other blogs and comment and HB stays in the living room watching his shows or goes to his room and reads till his bedtime.

Well, lately he's been coming into my room pretending he's looking for the puppy and just casually jumps on my bed with "whatcha doin' ?" Then he starts watching my shows (TV is always on after 8pm) and making little talk.

First couple of times he did that I didn't realize what is going on so I just brushed him off and send him on his way (he's a teenager I assumed he's there to bug me and distract me with something dumb). Then I actually looked at him when he was leaving and I saw it....I saw the look....the look that almost broke my heart.

It hit me like a ton of bricks. My little boy might be growing up, but right now he wants his mom.

Not for anything special, just to be there. Him and I ....just the two of us. Making small talk and watching TV.

I am painfully aware that this stage won't last long, but for now I will take it and enjoy it as long as he lets me.

My little HB was born on Good Friday

Sorry, about the quality of the picture, but the scanner is in HB's room and it was too late. I had to improvise with my camera.

That is very sweet. I hope my boys are as cool when they hit those years. But alas, those years are exactly why I chose NOT to teach Jr. High.

I'm dreading the teen years. They'll be interesting that's for sure.

Thanks for stopping by on my SITS day.

It all goes by so fast doesn't it? I wonder what the teen years will bring me.

For some reason it's so much sweeter when a teenage boy wants to spend time with his mom than a teenage girls. Apparently you are doing something right!:)
